About the Center:
The mission of the Walker County Children’s Advocacy Center is to reduce the trauma of child maltreatment by providing a child-oriented environment for the coordination, multidisciplinary investigation, intervention and treatment of child abuse and neglect victims in Walker County.
At the Walker County Children’s Advocacy Center, we focus on children and families in need. We conduct forensic interviews of children when a child is suspected to have been a victim of physical or sexual abuse, neglect or a witness to crime. In addition, we provide counseling to victims to help them cope with any trauma associated with the event as well as prepare them for the process ahead. The CAC works with law enforcement, the Department of Human Resources, the District Attorney’s Office and families to ensure the safety of every child who comes through our doors. By facilitating this team approach, the CAC helps bridge the gap between the various agencies tasked with the investigation, intervention and prosecution of crimes involving children. This vital role promotes efficiency and ensures justice for victims.
